Member of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, Thanaa Al-Zajrawi, revealed today, Monday, the latest developments in amending the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
Al-Zajrawi told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The next legislative term will witness the legislation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.”
She pointed out that "there is an agreement to increase the penalties imposed on those convicted of drug offenses to death and life imprisonment."
She added, "Amending the law has become an urgent necessity to tighten the punishment for drug traffickers and develop capabilities for early detection."
She continued, "There is parliamentary support for legislating the drug law to eliminate this scourge, which has become a real danger threatening the security of Iraq." Ended/25H
