Director of the Anbar Agriculture Directorate, Younis Al-Ju'ani, announced today, Monday, the launch of a campaign to combat desertification in western Anbar.
Al-Ju'ani told /Al-Maalouma/ agency, "The campaign includes planting more than 15,000 olive trees and 5,000 sulfur trees to be natural barriers to confront dust storms and combat desertification."
He added that "17 forests were severely damaged as a result of terrorist operations," noting that "a large number of farms in the western regions were subjected to bulldozing operations by ISIS terrorist elements."
He stressed that "the success of the campaign will contribute to combating desertification and climate change." End / 12A
