    The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a new plan to combat desertification, which has been plagued by large areas of the country, stressing that the farmers are equipped with all the necessary supplies for the success of the current winter season  . 
    The media spokesman in the ministry Hamid Al-Nayef said in a special statement to Al-Sabah that successive governments since 2003 have given utmost importance to the development of the agricultural sector, which has been neglected for three decades, through the development of development programs for its agricultural and livestock targets, And the transfer of Iraq to a country competing with the rest of the region after achieving self-sufficiency of its citizens of all crops, commending the efforts of the Ministry to employ the support provided to farmers within the plans and programs of deliberate work, which confirmed that the results became visible as part of a policy proved successful during the past years . 
    He said that the plan adopted by the ministry to limit the expansion of desert lands at the expense of arable land included direct support for forest projects and agricultural reserves, which will be among the main tasks of the production of seedlings and pods for a number of varieties of trees resistant to drought and heat to be cultivated in empty areas and 
    desert lands  . 
    Among the projects prepared by the ministry to address the problem of desertification, encouraging the cultivation of oases and palm groves, especially in the central and southern areas, which is famous for the large number of palm groves in the past, which affected the number of palm trees as a result of the absurd wars fought by the system, Called for the activation of the supervisory role of the state apparatus and the issuance of strict laws against violators through the imposition of fines or procedural penalties against them.
    On the other hand, Al-Nayef explained that the ministry was able to provide the farmers and farmers within the country's governorates with the types of agricultural fertilizer and the basic technical requirements that will make the current agricultural season succeed. In addition, it will launch the special advances to support farmers and farmers who wish to implement projects that will revive these orchards , Which pointed out that it is actively contributing to reduce the spread of the march of the desert towards agricultural land, which was razed during the past years within Baghdad and a number of the provinces of the country.[/rtl]
