Karbala begins implementing 154 projects

The local government in the holy Karbala Governorate has begun implementing 154 service and construction projects, including the projects recommended by the Prime Minister after the Arbaeen visit.
Karbala Governor Naseef Jassim Al-Khattabi told Al-Sabah: All projects were designed by solid companies, and will contribute to enhancing the services provided to the governorate’s residents and visitors.
He explained that the most important of these projects is the Imam Hussein (PBUH) roundabout, which is considered one of the vital strategic projects as it connects the holy city of Karbala to the northern governorates on the one hand and the southern governorates on the other.
Al-Khattabi explained that the Imam Hussein (PBUH) roundabout road is divided into three parts, and that the completion rate of the first part has reached 65 percent, with a length of 10 kilometers and a width of 60 meters, and serves more than 12 neighborhoods, in addition to its contribution to reducing traffic congestion witnessed at the city entrances and addressing all intersections by constructing bridges and tunnels.
He added that the second part is 27 km long, while the third part is 9 km long and 60 metres wide and will reduce traffic congestion in the northern part of the governorate.
Al-Khattabi pointed out that the governorate has prepared a pre-plan to pave all its streets by 2025, and accordingly there is a reconstruction campaign that includes all the city’s neighborhoods, in addition to completing the projects recommended by the Prime Minister after the Arbaeen visit, which will solve all the obstacles that the government faced during the million-strong visits, including the construction of the ring road and linking the holy Karbala governorate to the expressway, in addition to the construction of the second side of the Kamaliya Road reaching the Al-Hur district with the construction of the Kamaliya Square, in addition to other service projects.
