Ankara - Iraq Press - July 21: declared Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a state ofemergency in the country for three months , days after the military coup to topple his government 'sfailure at the time of rising public support for Erdogan.
Erdogan said in a press statement, " The presidenthas asked the Turkish government to declare a stateof emergency for three months in the country to protect the citizens and institutions of any terrorist attack , and to maintain the rule of law."
Erdogan said that " the announcement of a state ofemergency aims to take the steps required to effectively and rapidly in order to eliminate the threats against democracy in our country", he underlined that " the insistence of the Turkish people in the defense of his country did not benefit him weapons, tanks and helicopters coups."
