investment opportunities" with the United States as "positive and liable for consultations".

Premier Haidar al-Ibadi's financial advisor Mudh'hir Mohammed Saleh expressed Iraqi readiness to open " flexible dialogue" to encourage foreign investments, particularly with the United States.

The US embassy in Baghdad held, last week,  a seminar on the "ways to finance the Iraqi infrastructures".

Advisor Saleh pointed that Iraq signed international agreements, mostly to protect the foreign investors, particularly in fields of arbitration.

"The Americans are sensitive on this question, because they prefer international arbitration organs", Saleh confirmed.

He stressed the importance of US investment in Iraq, particularly in post-Da'ish (ISIS) era.
On 16 November, 2016, The US Trade Department urged Iraq to create "real" opportunities that could be financed by the investors, changing the existing contracts and granting bigger facilities to businessmen.

The Department believed that tourism projects is the best for Basra province and called the southern province to establish projects suitable for their needs and "not to copy other provinces' projects".

US Trade Department is trying to amend 2012 agreement between US Huston and Iraqi Basra cities, out of belief that Basra "could be the center for oil industry in the Middle East".
