Iraq reduced its investments in US Treasury bonds by 6.2% during the month of January last year on an annual basis.
Iraq’s ownership of US bonds fell, according to data from the United States Treasury, to 31.9 billion dollars, compared to 34 billion dollars in January 2019.
On a monthly basis, Iraq reduced its investment in US bonds by one billion dollars compared to December , Amounting to $ 32.9 billion, down 3%.
And Iraq ranked 34th in the world in the list of largest investors in US bonds at the end of January, which Japan exported with investments of 1211.7 billion dollars (1.21 trillion dollars), followed by China with 1078.6 billion dollars (1.08 trillion dollars).
And Arably, Iraq came in fourth place, succeeding Saudi Arabia with investments of $ 182.9 billion, and Kuwait with investments in US bonds with a value of $ 41.9 billion, then the United Arab Emirates, with $ 39.8 billion.
By the end of January 2020, total US bonds rose by 8.4% year-on-year, and an increase of $ 532.4 billion to reach $ 6857 billion ($ 6.86 trillion), compared to $ 6324.6 billion ($ 6.32 trillion) in the corresponding month of 2019.
The US Treasury bonds are considered a means of collecting funds and debts from countries and institutions, and the government will pay them when their maturity date, which varies according to the term of the bond. Ended 6/29 n
