The North Umm Qasr Port administration announced, on Tuesday, that 3,390 trucks loaded with goods were stopped inside the port's berths, some of which are still in the process of completing customs transactions and managing ports due to overlap in the supervisory administrative powers.
The Director of Umm Qasr Port, Ahmed Jassim, said, in an interview with local agencies, that "the total number of trucks that left Umm Qasr North port yesterday, Monday, and today, amounted to only 200 trucks, and more than 3000 trucks have accumulated inside the berths, due to the overlaps and the powers granted to some authorities, including the Ports Administration and the Authority". the customs".
He added that "there are some powers and instructions applied by those parties outside the work controls in the Customs Authority, which causes work confusion and the migration of importers to other ports such as Turkey and the ports of northern Iraq."
