    Iraqi and Japanese universities reach an understanding on academic exchanges


     Baghdad / term 

    Japan 's embassy in Iraq announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Chiba University and the University of Baghdad in the 13th of the month of February. It is the first Memorandum of Understanding for academic exchange between the Japanese and Iraqi universities. 
    According to a statement of the embassy it received (range) a copy of it, " The signing of this MOU represents the first of the results of joint press statement of the two countries regarding the strengthening of bilateral relations between Japan and the Republic of Iraq , " noting that " the statement was published on the tenth of January of this year when visiting Mr. Kentaro Sonooora Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Iraq earlier this year. " 
    He said the embassy statement that "both parties decided that the concerned authorities begin consultations to develop specific steps to strengthen bilateral exchanges , including academic exchanges and exchanges between universities." 
    He expressed the embassy through a statement , " the great hopes that the memorandum of understanding to facilitate the mutual friendship and understanding between the two universities would also lead to the momentum of efforts towards the signing of similar agreements between the universities of the two countries." 
    Expressing " its continuing commitment to make utmost efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Japan and Iraq in several areas including academic and educational fields."
