    Baghdad Today - Erbil
An informed security source revealed, today, Saturday (September 28, 2024), unprecedented American movements and the entry and exit of ground forces on the Syrian border with Iraq from the direction of Dohuk Governorate.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "there are movements of the American army in the areas of the border strip with Syria from the direction of Dohuk Governorate."
He added, "There are security precautions at the Harir base located at Erbil Airport," stressing that "experimental sirens have been activated, in addition to the presence of drones in a number of areas around Erbil and Dohuk."
An informed security source reported earlier today, Saturday (September 28, 2024), that the entrances to the Ain al-Assad base, west of Anbar Governorate, have continued to be closed since Friday evening.
The source explained in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the entrances to Ain al-Assad base were closed following the accelerating tensions in Lebanon and the Israeli bombing of the southern suburb and the rest of the Lebanese cities, which led to the fall of a large number of martyrs and wounded."
He pointed out that "the closure of the entrances to the base continues until this moment, amidst intensive drone flights, noting that" the general impression is that the base is on maximum alert with combat readiness for any emergency, and this is what the intensive drone flights reveal in addition to the deployment on the towers and the lack of foot movement in large parts of the base."
The source confirmed that "the base, which includes the largest part of the American forces present in Iraq, contains many departments, whether combat forces, air defense systems, engineering, or aviation.
He added, "Movement is almost limited in the base, which indicates the presence of strict instructions and guidelines on the necessity of caution and remaining within fortified locations in anticipation of any emergency."
It is noteworthy that Ain al-Assad base is one of the largest bases in Iraq and includes a large part of the deployed American forces, as their number reaches thousands of soldiers according to initial information.
Informed sources revealed, at dawn on Saturday (September 28, 2024), that the US embassy in Baghdad has tightened security measures based on high-level directives from Washington.
The sources said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "Security measures have been tightened at the US embassy in the Green Zone in Baghdad, and measures have been tightened at the main entrances to the embassy, amid a state of alert based on high-level directives received from Washington."
She added, "These measures come in the context of anticipating any emergency that may occur, especially in light of the current tensions in Lebanon and their repercussions on the Middle East region in general."
Informed sources reported earlier that the Ain al-Assad and Harir bases in Iraq had entered a state of maximum alert in anticipation of any emergency.
Israeli air strikes targeted Hezbollah's central command headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday evening, the Israeli army announced.
This attack is the most violent since the start of the border escalation between Israel and Hezbollah last October.
