The Ministry of Oil stressed the need to price the produced raw gas, fully invest it, and limit its burning.
A statement by the ministry, received by Al-Maalouma Agency, stated that "the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Extraction Affairs, Basem Muhammad Khadir, chaired the meeting on the pricing of raw gas, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber, and the general managers of the relevant departments, and representatives of the Dhi Qar Oil and Southern Gas companies, according to what the Ministry of Oil stated in a statement today, Friday.
He added that during the meeting, investment in gas produced in Dhi Qar Governorate and mechanisms for accelerating its full investment were discussed, in addition to developing a gas pricing plan.
The Undersecretary stressed, according to the statement, the necessity for the Dhi Qar Oil and Southern Gas Companies and the relevant departments to take the necessary measures to accelerate investment, and set a unified price for all extractive companies, in addition to preparing studies and future plans to develop the sector.
Khader pointed out that the Ministry is keen to develop effective policies for pricing raw gas and developing the necessary infrastructure to fully invest in it, in line with the government’s plans to increase national gas production and reduce associated gas flaring, in order to achieve sustainable development goals and enhance economic revenues.
