Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: No comment was uttered here on Saudi denial of the news that it will

delete Iraqi debts which was announced by Iraqi foreign minister Ibrahim al-Jaffari.

Saudi foreign ministry sources reported, in a statement, the denial of the news that the Saudi foreign minister Adel al-Jubair "disclosed the intention to cancel

The denial was reported by Saudi News Agency.

Iraqi foreign minister al-Jaffari reported the news of deletion of the debts, in addition to opening a flight route between the two countries.

Iraqi-Saudi relations passed in tense era that resulted in transferring Saudi ambassador Thamir al-Sabhan for "interfering in Iraqi internal affairs", but the recent visit of al-Jubair to Baghdad in 25 February, 2017 "eased the tensions".

Al-Jubair's visit was the first visit of a senior Saudi official during the past 14 years.

Saudi Arabia opened its embassy in Baghdad in 2015 after about a quarter of a century of closing it following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
