Central Bank calls on Chinese banks to open branches in Iran

    03/08/2017

Iran's central bank governor, Aliullah Saif, has called for the opening of branches and representations of Chinese banks in Iran, calling China a key partner of Iran.

This came during Saif's meeting with the Chinese ambassador in Tehran on Wednesday.

Saif stressed that China is the main partner of Iran, which is willing to develop relations more than ever before, pointing out that the aim of the meeting is to remove obstacles in the banking and economic relations between the two countries.

He pointed out that there are many Iranian projects funded by China, stressing the need to strengthen financial intermediation between Iranian and Chinese banks.

He pointed out that in recent years the Central Bank of Iran has taken great steps to promote modern standards in the banking system, developing its banking relations with the banks of Europe and other major Asian countries.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador, "Bang Sen" expressed his happiness with the meeting, stressing the need to develop banking relations between Iran and China after the opening of the post-nuclear agreement between Iran and the Sixth International.

He stressed that China will continue to fund major projects in Iran, calling on Tehran to prioritize the huge urban projects and inform Beijing.
