    Member of the Reconstruction and Parliamentary Services Committee, Madiha Al-Maksousi , confirmed today, Sunday (May 12, 2024), that the government’s interest in reconstruction and construction in the capital, Baghdad, will make it one of the most beautiful capitals in the region .
    Al-Maksusi told “Baghdad Today” that “the Sudanese government succeeded in the reconstruction and construction revolution in the capital, Baghdad, and there is a major and tangible development in this aspect despite the short life of the government,” adding: “But there is real work that successive governments have not done  .”
    She added, "The government's great interest in reconstruction and construction in Baghdad will make it one of the most beautiful capitals in the region during the next few years, and will make it one of the most important tourist and recreational countries for many foreign tourists."
    Earlier today, the head of the consortium of companies (Wintel Capital) of Switzerland and the Emirati company Fas Food, Riyad Kazem, said, “Iraq is witnessing safety, security, stability, and encouragement for investment, especially strategic projects,” pointing out, “We encourage investing companies to come to Iraq.”
    For his part, the authorized representative of the German company Siemens, Youssef Al-Shammari, said, “Iraq is a country that is young in projects and strongly attractive for investments,” pointing out, “We are seeking to invest in the Baghdad metro project worth 18 billion dollars .”
    He added, "The project attracted major international companies such as Siemens, ARG, Hitachi, and companies specialized in building railways, systems, and trains," noting that, "After analyzing the bids and signing the contract, the first phase of the Baghdad Metro will be opened within a year and a half, and it will consist of seven phases."
