     Follow-up / Sky Press:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump has renewed a state of emergency for Sudan's national security, citing President Bush's 2006 executive order to impose sanctions on individuals who ignite the conflict in Darfur.

According to the Sudan Tribune, the presidential decree states that "despite the recent positive developments, the crisis created by the actions and policies of the Government of Sudan, which led to the declaration of the state of national emergency in Executive Order 13067 of 3 November 1997 and extension of No. 13400 on April 26 (April 2006) continue to pose an extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, so I have decided that it is necessary to continue the state of emergency with respect to Sudan. "

Sudan's state of emergency was first declared on Nov. 3, 1997, allowing President Bill Clinton to impose economic sanctions on Sudan for sponsoring terrorism and human rights violations on November 4, 1997. According to the announcement, President George W. Bush issued Executive Order 13400 on April 26, 2006, Which prohibits the property of persons involved in the conflict in the Darfur region.

On October 6, 2017, President Trump decided to abolish the economic sanctions imposed on Sudan since 1997. However, the individual sanctions imposed by Executive Order 13400 are still imposed despite the abolition of the economic blockade on Sudan in October 2017.

In November, Khartoum and Washington are expected to resume talks on the remaining sanctions, including the list of state sponsors of terrorism, Executive Order 13400, and Executive Order 13412 of 13 October 2006, in which President Bush prohibited transactions with Sudan related to oil, gas and petrochemical industries in accordance with the Peace Act And accountability in Darfur for 2006.
