    The Khartoum government has signed an agreement with the Kuwait-based Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development to obtain a $ 200 million loan, the official news agency SUNA reported.
    "The loan will be used to support development projects in Sudan," the agency said, without elaborating.
    The agreement was signed by the Sudanese Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning Abdul-Monem Mohammad Al-Tayeb and signed by Abdul Latif Yousif Al-Hamad, during the participation of Sudan in joint meetings of the Arab financial bodies held in Kuwait.
    For his part, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Sudan to Kuwait Ambassador Omar Tatai, said that "the move is successful and the country is groping its way towards comprehensive development under the new phase led by the Transitional Military Council headed by General Abdul Fattah Barhan."
    "These prudent decisions come to address the dues of Sudan in the international finance funds, so that the country can benefit from the large and outstanding loans that have been disrupted by the sterile policies of the previous period."
    The economic crisis in Sudan has fueled public protests that led to the ouster of President Omar al-Bashir earlier this month.
