MP Abdul Rahim al-Shammari revealed the failure of Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri to "persuade" the US administration to postpone the elections scheduled for next May. "
"Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri and other political figures sought, through visits to America to postpone the elections on the pretext of the lack of readiness of the Sunni street to hold elections, but failed to convince the American side," Shammari said in a statement.
He added that "the elections will be held on time without any delay due to popular and international pressure in the permanence of democracy in the country and political change."
He stressed that "most of the political figures in the Union of forces failed to manage the past plight and must step down to make way for a new political generation, especially after the fall of Mosul and its occupation by gangs and the events and events."
