The Electricity Committee of the Basra Provincial Council announced the approval of the World Bank to increase the amount of the loan allocated for the establishment of projects related to the transfer and distribution of electric power to 190 million dollars, after the value of the loan 150 million.

The head of the committee Mujib al-Hassani said in a press statement that a meeting held in the Ministry of Electricity today included the Electricity Committee of the Basra Council and the representative of the World Bank, Mohammed al-Ani, while it was agreed to increase the amount of this loan, noting that the meeting came after the request of the local government and its committee directly.

He pointed out that this loan will be implemented by projects related to the transport and distribution sectors to add new lines in all parts of Basra to resolve the bottlenecks experienced by the province at peak time.
