The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Iraq called on the International Conference on Iraq Reconstruction to provide urgent funding to help 1.6 million Iraqis.
"Some 12 million Iraqis live in rural areas, make up one-third of the country's population, depend on agriculture for their livelihoods, and the development of these communities is achieved only through the rehabilitation of the agricultural sector, which has been severely affected by To work in large areas of it, which is important in the recovery and prosperity of the country in the long term after years of conflict.

"These projects will enable FAO and its partners to assist in the rehabilitation of the agricultural sector and water resources and revitalize local communities through two components. The first will include three main axes: repairing irrigation networks, water treatment plants and pumping stations, Storage and processing facilities, and such prevention of crop and livestock diseases. "
"The second component focuses on the revitalization of local communities through the provision of multi-purpose cash assistance, agricultural inputs and cash for work to returning farmers, the rehabilitation of agricultural infrastructure and veterinary facilities, water resource assets and the provision of veterinary services," the UN official said.
