[ltr]Italian Foreign announced Friday that it has decided to provide emergency aid to the people of the Iraqi city ofFallujah , which government forces waging a major offensive by weeks ago in order to restore them from the grip of the "Daash" terrorist.[/ltr]
[ltr]A statement issued by the ministry , "The affiliate management cooperation in the framework of its support tointernational efforts in the face of the humanitarian crisis in Fallujah, it has decided to grant one million euros inemergency aid for the benefit of the Iraqi population in the city."[/ltr]
[ltr]According to the statement: "will monitor the amount of 650 thousand euros in favor of the International Committee of the Red Cross [b](ICRC)[/b] and 350 thousand for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees[b](UNHCR)".[/b][/ltr]
[ltr]He pointed out that "according to the latest United Nations estimates, more than 50 thousand people are still stranded in Fallujah, including 20 thousand children at least, in precarious conditions because of the food, medicines and drinking water shortages."[/ltr]
[ltr]The statement noted that " the Italian contribution aims to support the relief operations , particularly thedistribution of food aid and essential goods for the benefit of about 1 070 displaced families, as well as activities related to protection and assistance and family reunification in the camps for displaced people," adding that "aid will be distributed first fleeing civilians who have been displaced from Fallujah to Amiriyah Fallujah in Anbar province west of Alarac.anthy 29 / tc n[/ltr]
