A British newspaper reported on Sunday that British officials had refused to withdraw their troops from Iraq, insisting that they be kept for security and intelligence surveillance purposes.
"The withdrawal of our troops from Iraq is not on the horizon," British Air Force Chief Marshal Stephen Hiller said in a report. "The British Air Force and the international coalition aircraft have surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
"We have to continue this work until the mission in Iraq and Syria is completed," Hiller told the British Press Society. "  I do not see any withdrawal of troops from Iraq now. I can not see any future withdrawal of the Washington-led international coalition."
"We are in Iraq to face the threats to British national security and the security issues facing the British in general in the Middle East," Hiller said. "This has led us not to reduce the combat forces in Iraq."
"If we look at the other side of the equation, there are threats and pressure exerted on the Iraqi government to pull out the coalition forces from Iraq," Hiller said, noting that Russia is growing stronger and defying international standards and pressure us a lot, pointing out that we  do everything good for Britain, We continue to do so well.
