Basra Governorate Council criticized the conditions of the border crossing points in the province, describing it as: "miserable and lacks the simplest services compared to similar in neighboring countries."

"The border crossing points in Basra are miserable and lack the simplest services and the responsibility for their reconstruction is the border crossing authority, which did not work to develop them," said Murtada al-Shammani, head of the border crossings committee.

He added: "Although the imports of border ports in Basra are large and go to the treasury of the state, but the services are miserable at the ports, as some roads and streets are not paved, while providing electricity and water from Iran."
