Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Wednesday that the Iraqi government's current work will continue after the end of the House of Representatives (parliament) and called on the judiciary to prosecute the election fraud and issue arrest warrants against them.

Abadi said during his weekly conference: "The work of the current Iraqi government will continue after the end of the life of parliament in the event of failure to resolve the file of election results."

"We launched before the Eid a national initiative to hold a broad national meeting at the highest levels to agree on the future program of state administration and not only the government in the light of the Constitution and the law, with a view to agree on specific mechanisms to accelerate the formation of constitutional institutions.

The current life of the House of Representatives ends on 30 June 2018, but the first meeting of the new Council faces the challenges of not resolving the allegations of fraud in the parliamentary elections held on 12 May 2018.

Abadi said, "the continued preparations for taking practical steps to hold the national meeting and look forward to the near future to work together and give priority to the national interest on narrow interests on the way to complete the constitutional benefits."

Calling for "respect for constitutional contexts on resolving differences on the results of the elections and the adoption of the bodies authorized constitutionally and respect the decisions issued by them."

He called on "the judiciary to prosecute the fraudsters and issue arrest warrants against them."

The election results faced a wave of objections, especially in Kirkuk, where Arab, Kurdish and Turkmen parties claimed the existence of a process of Tzurir in favor of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, which in turn rejected the accusations.
