    Former member of the House of Representatives, Jassim al-Bayati, revealed a list of spoilers presented by Prime Minister Haider al-Abbadi to the Iraqi judiciary in order to be held accountable. 

    Al-Bayati, who is close to the prime minister, said that the list included about 73 names, including influential political figures and senior officials, owners of companies and personalities working in the Iraqi state, indicating that the list includes only those accused of smuggling money out of the country. 

    He added that the list was not put forward before the parliamentary elections held on May 12, so as not to be considered by some as electoral propaganda. 

    He stressed that the prime minister emphasizes the status of the list on the table and the accountability of the defaulters by the judiciary, noting that it will include all those who have large sums of money outside Iraq, obtained illegally by both the former regime or politicians.

    Sources close to the Prime Minister's Office confirmed on Thursday (2 August 2018) that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was referring 50 senior officials to the Integrity Commission to investigate corruption and mismanagement, including ministers and undersecretaries.     Al-Shammari stressed that the officials referred to (integrity) range from ministers, deputy ministers and general managers in various state institutions.
