Minister of Planning, Mohammed Tamim, confirmed today, Monday, that the exact figures for the population of each governorate will soon be announced.
Tamim said in a speech during the announcement of the preliminary results of the general population and housing census: "We extend our thanks to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani for his great support and follow-up to ensure the success of the general population and housing census project. We also thank the Council of Ministers and all religious and political figures who contributed to the success of this project. We also thank the governors, local governments, security forces and all the cadres who worked to make this major project a success."
He added that "these results are preliminary and will be completed after all the data is completed, with the audit and cross-checking to ensure its quality and credibility, and after that we will have accurate figures for the population of each governorate," noting that "these figures are delivered in an official envelope to the governor to announce them, as he is the head of the committee in the relevant governorate."
