Head of the Amal parliamentary bloc, Yasser Al-Husseini, revealed that five ministers will be questioned at the end of the legislative session.
Al-Husseini said, “The government’s intentions to reshuffle the cabinet are an attempt to honor or free some of the negligent people in the government cabinet from the basis of parliamentary accountability,” adding, “We have observations and we have problems that some members of this government have committed, and we must proceed with our constitutional procedures.”
He added, "Parliament intends to question a number of ministers, and if the government goes to replace these ministers in an attempt to cover up their failures and the problems they caused in the management of their ministries."
Al-Husseini stressed the “House of Representatives’ rejection of the ministerial amendment in its entirety or in detail,” stressing the “necessity of opening the interrogation file inside the parliament dome, then voting on dismissing and holding accountable those who were negligent, and transferring their files to the judicial authorities.”
The member of the House of Representatives continued, saying: “We have a number of interpellations that we have submitted to the Presidency of the House of Representatives, and we do not care who will be on the list of replacements.”
He pointed out that "the most prominent of those who will be questioned are: the Ministers of Transport, Electricity, Oil, Trade, and Communications," noting that "approval has been obtained to question some of them."
Al-Hussaini expected that "the interrogation will be held before the end of the current legislative session."
