The US newspaper The Washington Post reported on Friday that Ankara had video and audio recordings of the torture of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi interrogators, noting that Turkey informed the United States.
"The Turkish authorities have audio and video recordings showing the voice of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the Saudi interrogators and the method of torturing and killing him," the newspaper quoted American and Turkish officials as saying.
She added that "Turkey informed the United States of the existence of these recordings that prove Khashoggi's death inside his consulate in Istanbul, which he visited on the second of October."
It was not clear from the sources, whether US officials had seen the footage or heard the sound recordings, but Turkish officials described the content of these recordings.
According to the Washington Post, experts and intelligence officials have speculated in recent days that the Saudi security team, which Turkish officials said he had asked Khashoggi to go to Istanbul, may have intended to arrest him and hijack him to Saudi Arabia, not physical liquidation.
She pointed out that "the person who read the content of the audio recording said that after the killing of Khashoggi, the assassination team went to the home of the Consul General of Saudi Arabia, where he asked the workers at home to leave early that day. There is also evidence of at least one telephone conversation from inside the consulate, "the source said.
The official sources told the newspaper earlier that the members of the Saudi team of 15, arrived in the Turkish city on the same day for the disappearance of Khashoggi, and visited the consulate in conjunction with his visit to them, who are behind the liquidation process, and the transfer of his body outside the consulate, and authorities Turkish has a voice recording of the killing.
