The US economy has lost at least $ 6 billion during the partial closure of the federal government because workers have stopped production and lost economic activity, the Standard & Poor's credit rating agency said.
The US House of Representatives and Senate approved a bill to end the partial closure of the government by providing temporary funding to federal agencies but refused to grant President Donald Trump the amount he had requested to finance a $ 5.7 billion barrier on the US-Mexico border.
Funding for a series of federal agencies was unanimously approved until Feb. 15 and Congress and Trump were given three weeks to negotiate a border security agreement.
Trump is expected to sign the bill into law immediately.
