Government sources announced that the Basmaya project lost nearly $3 billion to the Iraqi state due to contracting procedures.
The sources, who preferred not to reveal their name, told "Al-Iqtisad News", "The Basmaya project was supposed to be an investment project, being built by the Korean Honwha Company, but the project turned into a contractor," adding that the government that contracted it is the one who bears this mistake. .
She stressed that this error caused losses to the Iraqi state 3 billion dollars, because it made government banks to intervene to buy apartments, explaining that the project is considered one of the good projects at the level of infrastructure and contributes to alleviating the housing crisis, which made the government to support and implement it.
