Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Verchinen said on Sunday that Iraq and Lebanon have shown their willingness to assist in the Astana negotiations and expressed their interest in participating in the negotiations as observers.
"The current observers are Jordan and the United Nations," Varshenin said, referring to the decision taken in the Russian city of Sochi to study candidates and criteria for countries that can join the Astana formula.
"During our initial contacts in Iraq and Lebanon, the two countries expressed their willingness to understand and know what is happening in the Astana negotiations," he said, adding that "
