The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Wednesday that it will extend the registration period until 11 May, urging citizens to review the centers to invest the opportunity to update their data and receive their biometric cards.

"The Commission of Commissioners in the Electoral Commission decided to extend the period of updating the voter register, which opened on 25/3/2019 and ends on 20/4/2019 until 11/5/2019," UNHCR spokesman Riad Badran said in a statement received by Alsumaria News. To give more time and opportunity for voters to update their data and review centers update the registry, which opened in Baghdad and all provinces except the provinces of the Kurdistan Region.




Badran called on citizens to "review the centers to invest the opportunity to update their data and receive their biometric cards." The council also decided to create special centers to register voters and update their data from displaced citizens in their displacement centers. 

He added that "the Council will open registration centers in the displacement centers in the provinces of the Kurdistan region and the adoption of mobile modernization teams in the process of modernization to be a cadre of registration staff of the mobile teams of the voters of the provinces of the displaced and commensurate with the size of the displaced from each province."
