    First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hassan Karim al - Kaabi, the determination of parliament legislation that includes the provision of grants and financial aid for independent newspapers, while noting that the fight against computer crime law will not pass without consensus with the journalists 'union and the competent authorities. 
    "We are in the process of enacting a law that will provide grants and financial aid to independent newspapers suffering from financial crises," al-Kaabi said in a speech at a celebration organized by the union on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day and his follow-up. 
    "The House of Representatives is always committed to legislating laws that protect the independent press, freedom of expression and access to information," he said, calling for "the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators of crimes against journalists."
    Al-Kaabi confirmed that "the law against the crimes of informatics will not pass without agreement with the Journalists Syndicate and the competent authorities." He called on some media outlets to "refrain from promoting rumors, defamation, politicization and the transfer of information without evidence."
