    Economy News - Baghdad

The former Minister of Electricity, Karim Waheed, confirmed that Iraq's completion of the gas investment associated with oil production would make Iraq stop importing gas from Iran
    .
Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar said that Iraq would stop burning gas associated with oil production in 2024. The country imports 50 standard cubic meters from Iran per day to operate power stations with a production capacity of 30,000 megawatts
    .
Waheed said, in an interview with the "Deep Breath" program that is broadcast by the Tigris Channel, and which was followed by "Al-Iktissad News", that "Iraq is currently burning 1,400 mqm of gas associated with oil production and investment, which means that Iraq will stop importing gas from Iran," explaining that the investment of the fields The fizzy will add 1600 Mqsqt daily.

He noted that failure to invest this amount of gas means that we are unable to operate 15,000 megawatts of our electrical stations, pointing out that the imported Iranian gas is supposed to operate the national stations and not the investment ones, but now it operates the investment stations.
He added that the Iraqi government pays $ 1.2 billion annually to pay the Iranian gas, and we import electricity from Iran up to 800 million dollars for a thousand megawatts.

He added that Iraq was planning to end the electricity crisis in the year 2015, but political interference stood against the project, and failed the program that we had put in place, noting that the ministers of electricity in Egypt and Syria remained in the ministry for a long time until the completion of their project.

And that the Ministry of Electricity should be removed from the sectarian quota system, noting that in the year 2011 a political bloc imposed its will to buy diesel stations amounting to 5 thousand megawatts that the Ministry of Electricity does not need.

He indicated that the location of the Basmajah station is wrong because it does not contain fuel, water, and an electricity network, and it was imposed for security reasons
