Three sources working in the fuel oil trade announced, on Wednesday, that the state-owned Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) has awarded a fixed-term contract to supply 750,000 tons of fuel oil per month from April to September.
The sources said, according to Reuters, that "the six-month supply contract was awarded to Chevron Corp., Reliance Industries, and an Iraqi oil trading company whose name has not been revealed. Chevron gets 50 percent of the monthly quantities, while Reliance gets 25 percent, and the same amount is for a marketing company." Iraqi oil is "Sumo".
One of the sources said, "The supply contract was granted at a premium of 17 dollars per ton over the prices offered in the Middle East for high-sulfur fuels with a viscosity of 180 centstock."
