    {Local: Al Furat News} The General Company for Ports at the Ministry of Transport announced, on Tuesday, that an amount of 30 billion dinars has been allocated for the purpose of restoring the infrastructure of Umm Qasr ports.
    A statement by the Ministry of Transport, a copy of which was received by Al Furat News, stated that "the ministry has allocated 30 billion dinars in order to restore the infrastructure of Umm Qasr ports during its budget for the current year, which requires the implementation of a package of projects aimed at developing the northern and southern ports of Umm Qasr." 
    The general manager of the company, Engineer Farhan Muheisen, said, according to the statement, that "the process of merging the northern and southern ports of Umm Qasr has been started to become one port similar to what it has been since its establishment in 1967, and after 2010 it was split into two independent administrations." Adding that "Resolution (90) of 2020 issued by the Council of Ministers instructed all departments to meet all the requirements of the Grand Customs Welcome Square, and that the purpose of this project is to make one unified customs yard with an area of ​​one million and 500 thousand square meters for all devices and support departments that operate in Umm ports. A palace, as there will be a separation between port work and customs, and this makes the two ports a single port. 
    Al-Fartousi said, "The Customs Welcome Square includes gates and garages equipped with scales, sonars, radiological examination devices and all service buildings. We have allocated a budget of (30) billion dinars for this year to restore the infrastructure, in addition to other financing from a joint operating company, amounting to about (40). Billion dinars. "
    The statement indicated that the ports of Umm Qasr receive 70% of the commercial vessels loaded with goods and containers, while the port of Khor Al-Zubair is designated for the import and export of oil derivatives.
