Transport Minister Abdullah Loibi announced on Friday a qualitative leap in the proportion of financial revenues achieved during the year 2018 in the port of Umm Qasr al-Shamali.
"According to a statement by the ministry," 2017 revenues amounted to about 167 billion dinars, while the port during the year 2018 revenues of about 183 billion, thanks to intensifying working hours and continuous follow-up work of technical staff working in the port. "
He pointed out "the need to modernize the customs procedures followed by the Customs Authority to facilitate the transfer of goods outside the port," stressing that "the provision of inspection devices inside the port for the speed of completion of the transaction to the owners of the goods."
He added that "making ports border ports is an obstacle to the advancement of the ports, being an authority and have obligations according to the International Code of Ports of the world and must have the authority to be able to work to attract carriers and compete with the ports of the region."
For his part, the general manager of the company Safaa Abdul Hussein said that "the port of Umm Qasr al-Shamali has achieved financial revenues for the year 2018 more than the previous year by about 16 billion dinars."
