Shafaq News / A local source reported that demonstrators, angry at the assassination of activist Ihab Al-Wazni, set fire to the headquarters of the Dawa Party led by Nuri al-Maliki in the city of Najaf.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, “Demonstrators, angry at the assassination of Ihab Al-Wazni, set fire to the headquarters of the Dawa Party in the Sadr Square area in the middle of the city of Najaf.”

And at dawn on Sunday, unknown gunmen assassinated the head of the Coordination of Protests in Karbala, Ihab Jawad Al-Wazni, near his home in Karbala, which is predominantly Shiite, according to a statement by the Defense Ministry’s Security Media Cell.

This development sparked angry protests in several regions of Iraq, including Karbala, Dhi Qar and the capital, Baghdad, while Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi ordered an urgent investigation into the incident and the perpetrators brought to justice.
