{Economic: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Electricity issued, on Thursday, a clarification regarding its contract with a Turkish company to connect Iraq and Turkey.
The useful summary.. In important news, you can find it in the Euphrates News channel on the telegram.. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
And it stated in a statement, which {Al-Furat News} received a copy of, that “at a time when the Ministry of Electricity appreciates the supervisory and legislative role of the respected members of the House of Representatives, especially Representative Amjad Al-Uqabi, a member of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, and his keenness to follow up on the projects of the Ministry of Electricity and his great endeavors to consolidate its efforts.”
She added, "We would like to clarify some points regarding the contract signed with Kar Company to complete the connection of the Iraqi-Turkish line (Gizra - Mosul 400 kV). As follows:
First, the Ministry had previously signed a contract with the Turkish Al-Aqsa Company, which is also an intermediary company, as is the case with Kar Purpose Company. Supplying electric power from Turkey via the interconnection line (Sloby Zakho 132 kV) and its obligations have not been fulfilled so far, despite the opening of the credit!!!! and
stipulated that the ministry must pay the amounts of processing in advance for three months, and the supply is cut off when the amount of credit runs out, unlike the companies that did the processing Immediately before opening the credit and did not receive the amounts so far.
Second/ Due to the Islamic Republic of Iran suspending or limiting electrical energy supply loads across the 400 kV lines, for the southern and central regions, the Ministry of Electricity was keen on finding an alternative source for that at the same price or less via the Iraqi-Turkish interconnection line (Carrot-Mosul 400 kV). Which passes through Dohuk governorate, and there is part of the 17 km long line that is not implemented inside the governorate. The ministry had to find a company to implement the line in agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Turkish Ministry of Energy, and without having to pay money due to the lack of financial allocations.
Third / The regional government stipulated that, because the improvement of the system was transferred by them to an investment company, that it agree to the company that implements the project, and that this company implement a 400 kV station inside Dohuk governorate, and that this line passes to it to become (Carrot - Dohuk - Mosul 400 kV) and was nominated Kar company exclusively as a single company to contract and implement the project, and in the interest of the ministry to obtain an alternative supply source for imported energy from Iran at a lower price and to implement the line without incurring sums of money (which other companies stipulated), it agreed to contract with the Kar company nominated by the Ministry of Electricity of the region and the company began implementing The line and without opening a credit or paying sums of money, provided that the processing is as needed to fill the shortage due to the irregularity of the Iranian side with the processing.
The ministry concluded, "Noting that the Prime Minister's office had no role or pressure in the direction of the issue and the project, and it required mention and clarification."
