    The Electoral Commission has established mechanisms for using the “short-term” electronic card to ensure the accuracy of voting by presenting official documents, while confirming the existence of controls for changing the names of parties.
    In the weekly speech, the IHEC said that “in order to consolidate the electoral process and ensure that it is conducted in accordance with international standards on October 10, 2021, the Electoral Commission has developed mechanisms for using the “short-term” electronic card to ensure the accuracy of voting by presenting official documents, as well as conducting the matching process for its owners.     On a related level, the IHEC had earlier set conditions and controls regulating the electoral campaign mechanism for candidates based on Elections Law No. (9) of 2020, with the formation of teams to monitor violations of these campaigns and places to practice propaganda in coordination with the Baghdad Municipality and its municipal directorates and departments, as well as Coordination with the Communications and Media Authority regarding violations of the audio-visual media. The IHEC will also receive complaints received regarding violations of electoral campaigning in the National Office and all provincial electoral offices, and when the violation is proven, the IHEC will impose the necessary punishment against them, while holding them responsible for the consequences of that violation according to Chapter Eight of the Elections Law entitled (Penal Provisions).
