The Strategic Center for Human Rights in Iraq called, on Tuesday, for the government to grant all public servants who are candidates for the upcoming elections a compulsory leave of three months without pay.
In a statement received by Mawazine News, the director of the center's office in Baghdad, Hazem Al-Rudaini, said that "these licenses ensure that the position and government money are not used in electoral campaigns, and that justice and equality of opportunity for all candidates are achieved."
He added, "This demand will also help them devote themselves to their electoral campaigns, with the imminent approval of the names of candidates for the early parliamentary elections scheduled for next October." Ended 29/A 4
