This came as security officials and sources close to the Iraqi armed factions revealed that the attack was carried out by an Iranian-backed group.
The sources also told Reuters earlier today, on condition of anonymity, that the drones and the explosives used in the attack were Iranian-made.
In addition, two Iraqi security officials and three sources close to the "provincial" factions (loyal to Iran, as it is described locally), explained that the attack was perpetrated by at least one of those groups, but they gave slightly different assessments about which of the factions exactly.

The two officials also added that Kata'ib Hezbollah and Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq carried it out side by side. A source in an armed group indicated that Kata'ib Hezbollah was involved, but did not confirm the involvement of Asa'ib.
Al-Kazemi had confirmed in a speech yesterday evening, Sunday, during a government session, that the security forces "know the perpetrators of the assassination attempt and will reveal them."
He also stressed that his house was targeted with booby-trapped drones directed at him directly.

The Cabinet confirmed that the attack was carried out by "criminal armed groups, who read the restraint and high professionalism of the security and military forces as weakness, so they bypassed the state and its symbols, and rushed to the explicit threat to the Commander in Chief."

It is noteworthy that 3 drones targeted at dawn on Sunday the home of the Prime Minister in the heavily fortified Green Zone, which includes foreign embassies and consulates, as well as official institutions, while the security forces shot down 2 of them, but the third managed to hit Al-Kazemi’s headquarters.

This attack came after a campaign of mobilization and incitement launched by the factions loyal to Tehran, affiliated with the Popular Mobilization, against Al-Kazemi against the background of the clashes that took place between the security forces and their supporters who camped and demonstrated in the vicinity of the Green Zone, on Friday and Saturday, which led to the killing of one of the leaders of those factions.

However, the Secretary-General of Asa'ib, Qais Khazali, returned yesterday and announced his condemnation of the attack on Al-Kazemi's house, "if it was intended," as he put it, while the "Hezbollah Brigades" mocked the attack, considering it a fabrication, and "none of the factions is ready to lose a march on A former prime minister.
Later, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq and Kata'ib Hezbollah accused the prime minister of ordering the security forces to fire live bullets, threatening him to pay the price.
