{Local: Al Furat News} The committee charged with setting controls for financing electricity generation systems from renewable energy for citizens and industrial, economic, commercial and agricultural activities funded by the initiative of the Central Bank of Iraq approved financial and technical controls early this year.
A statement by the Ministry of Environment, received by {Euphrates News}, stated that "this came in line with the state's directions to switch to the use of electricity generation sources from renewable sources, as the Ministry of Environment, along with the Central Bank of Iraq and other state institutions, launched an initiative to implement the national adaptation plan for the Paris Agreement on Climate Change."
The Director General of the Environmental Awareness and Information Department, Amir Ali Al-Hassoun, confirmed that the controls for technologies in the use of solar energy systems have been determined, which will allow citizens and various institutions to purchase them at competitive prices within the loan allocated to the initiative through local banks, indicating that the committee has established provisions and controls that ensure the use of the highest levels of technologies and their sustainability. Through following up the standardization and quality control device, which will be installed under the supervision of specialized technical teams from the Ministry of Electricity
Al-Hassoun explained that the initiative to switch to clean energy comes in line with government directions to abide by the decisions of the Paris Climate Change Conference, stressing that it is one of the fruits of the awareness campaigns carried out by the department in the public and private sectors as part of its plan to raise awareness of climate changes.
A committee was formed headed by the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, with the membership of representatives from the Ministries of Environment and Electricity and the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, as well as representatives of the private sector from experts and investors.
The Ministry of Environment presents a detailed table on the specifications and approximate prices of loans according to the size of the system, which is a qualitative leap in the environmental aspect and is economically feasible for what the citizen spends on purchasing energy.
