The Ministry of Electricity announced, on Wednesday, that it is in the process of contracting with Saudi Arabia and the UAE on solar energy, while indicating that it is proceeding strongly with the solar energy project.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, said, according to the official agency, that "the ministry is proceeding with the project to diversify energy sources, and it has previously signed with the (Power Shine) company for solar energy at a rate of 2000 megawatts, as well as a contract with a French company, Total, in addition to that it is in the process of Contracting with Saudi Arabia and the Emirati Masdar Company.
He added that "there is a determination to proceed with the production rate of 7,500 megawatts of solar energy, and accordingly it became obligatory to change the name of the ministry to the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy."
He pointed out, "The addition of a center called the Renewable Energy Center, describing that the ministry is concerned and will aggressively move forward with the solar energy project." Ended 29/A43
