     Baghdad: Jinan Al-Asadi
The Juvenile Reform Department in the Ministry of Justice, in coordination with three international organizations, launched new reform programs to renounce extremism and build the capacities of those held on terrorism charges in its reform prisons, whose percentage reached 70 percent.

The Commission for Human Rights in Iraq had announced in July of last year that the number of detainees and those convicted in detention and the prisons of the Reform Department reached 76,000, including 49,000 convicts.
Director-General of the Juvenile Reform Department in the ministry, Kamel Amin, told Al-Sabah: "The ministry has coordinated with three international organizations from Austria, Switzerland and Italy, which are specialized in rejecting religious extremism and reforming and rehabilitating prisoners, with the aim of rehabilitating all correctional programs and turning them towards capacity building for those charged with terrorism charges, to reintegrate them." society, after the termination of their deposit periods.”
He revealed that "the percentage of depositors in reform houses due to terrorist operations reaches 70 percent of the total number, and therefore the department deals with a complex crime, which requires the existence of programs to change the extremist thought of the depositor, to ensure that he does not return to those terrorist groups when he leaves."
Amin indicated that “these programs are given to social researchers, to create foundations for building the capacities of prisoners with extremist ideology, so that they can change it among that group that has become proud of the heinous crimes it committed, as a result of the fundamentalist ideas that were implanted in it, especially since many of them are born to parents who embrace Extremist ideology.
He pointed out that "social researchers intensify these programs by forming groups, as well as introducing them to schools to complete their studies and adopt accelerated education, as they have achieved new success rates in external exams."
