    Today, Monday, the Ministry of Planning announced that the percentage of women's participation in small and medium-sized enterprises is still very small.
    A statement by the ministry, received by Al-Iqtisad News, stated that "the Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, Maher Hammad Johan, opened the work of the workshop on supporting and developing small, small and medium enterprises in Iraq, based on the results of the survey carried out by the Central Statistical Organization with the support of the US Agency for Development and the United Nations Program United Development Corporation, which included the governorates of Baghdad, Nineveh and Basra.
    Johan said, according to the statement, that "the ministry, as part of its endeavor to implement the strategy of developing the private sector, is working to advance this sector and give it the required role and effective contribution to moving the wheel of the economy in all its sectors, noting that"
    He continued, "The percentage of women's contribution to small, small and medium enterprises is still very small and does not exceed 5% compared to the percentage of men's contribution, which calls for directing support paths for the segment of women in this field, calling on the private sector to benefit from the survey's outputs and to enter strongly in Adopting and supporting these institutions that can have a more influential role in various economic activities.”
    He pointed out that “the work of the four-day special workshop, in which the President of the Central Statistical Organization Ghamar Deeb, Vice President of the United Nations Development Program, and representatives of a number of Among the international organizations in Iraq, the head of the Iraqi Contractors Union and the head of the Iraqi Private Banks Association, representatives of the private sector from various economic activities, as well as a number of general managers in the ministries of planning, trade, labor and social affairs, the Central Bank, and adviser to the Prime Minister Alaa Al-Saadi.
