[size=45]Elisa Slotkin said about this meeting that they discussed the future of the Kurdish regions in Iraq, the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, and the way in which the United States provides assistance in this regard.[/size]

[size=45]The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region stated in a statement, on Saturday (February 19, 2022), that the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed with the spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Parliament Nils Schmid, the political situation in Iraq, the issue of immigration and the situation of migrants on the Belarusian border, the threats of ISIS and the extension of Authorization of German forces in Iraq.[/size]
[size=45]President Nechirvan Barzani thanked Germany and friendly European countries for their cooperation in the issue of migrants and the extension of the mandate of German forces in Iraq.[/size]
[size=45]Regarding the conditions of the displaced Yazidis, President Nechirvan Barzani stressed that "the implementation of the agreement to normalize the situation in Sinjar will be a good opportunity to establish stability and return the Yazidi people to their homes."[/size]
[size=45]The two sides discussed the issue of strengthening democracy, building and developing institutions in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and they agreed that Germany and friendly countries are able to provide aid and assistance in this context, according to a statement by the Kurdistan Region Presidency.[/size]
