    Baghdad - INA - Nassar Al-Hajj
, the Ministry of Planning identified, today, Saturday, the mechanisms and criteria used in calculating poverty in Iraq.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Planning, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "there are types of poverty, including (income) poverty, which is related to the factor of the individual's income level according to a certain line. If the rate of income is less than the drawn line, the individual is considered poor, and if His income has risen above that line, as he is outside the category of poverty, and this includes the details of the need for food.
He added that "there is a multidimensional poverty factor that includes, in addition to income, 3 other criteria, which are health, education and housing," noting that "if these requirements are not met for a person, he is considered poor."
And the Ministry of Planning announced, earlier, a new strategy to address poverty in Iraq, extending for 5 years, to complement the previous strategy, which expires this year.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Planning, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The strategy to combat poverty in Iraq for the years 2023-2027 is in its early stages in preparation and preparation for its implementation, and so far its features have not emerged," noting that "it must have complete features and that It is taking its final form, and it is hoped that it will be completed by the end of the current year."
He added that "the work began in cooperation and coordination with the ministries, concerned authorities, local governments in the governorates and international organizations to set the main tracks and the main axes," noting that "the strategy takes into account the changes that occurred from the economic crisis resulting from the Corona pandemic."
    He continued that "
He pointed out that "the strategy will work according to the main tracks, including poverty and poverty centers on the map drawn by us, and there will be another new survey to determine the reality of poverty in Iraq during the recent period, according to basic axes." He explained that "the strategy
will cover all of Iraq, and the provinces will be dealt with according to the percentage of poverty in each province, stressing that" the provinces with the highest poverty rate will be of priority and interest, and the strategic outcome will include all Iraqi provinces."
    years, ending in 2022.
