    Information / Diyala...
The Commission for Human Rights in Diyala Governorate confirmed, on Tuesday, that the cost of digging household wells has increased by 50%.
The Director of the Commission, Salah Mahdi, said in an interview with "The Information", that "the field teams conducted a comprehensive assessment of the drought file in the countryside of the main cities, including Baquba, in light of an unprecedented decline in the waters of the main rivers, in order to show the extent of the damage and its repercussions on the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians."
Mahdi added, "The widespread demand for digging household wells in the countryside has increased at an unprecedented pace and pushed the cost to increase to 50% and reached 500 thousand dinars at the present time, and it represents another financial burden, not to mention that the water of some wells is contaminated, which requires a periodic evaluation to avoid the risks of poisoning." or the emergence of diseases.
He pointed out that "the situation of drinking water in city centers is under control so far, and there has been no scarcity, especially with the mild weather, but the situation will be more difficult with the rise in temperatures in the coming months." finished/ 25 f
