     Baghdad: Batoul Al-Hasani

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs called on the Central Bank to reduce the amounts of commission for protection subsidies for beneficiaries, while it demanded that the emergency law for food security and development not be passed unless it includes the allocations of the Social Protection Authority. The head of the Social Protection Authority in the ministry, Huda Sajjad, said: "The Social Protection Authority suffers from a financial deficit in the payment of social benefits this year, amounting to 136 billion dinars." Sajjad added that "the relevant authorities should include the allocations of the Social Protection Authority in the emergency law for food security and development. If these allocations are not included, I demand that this law not be passed, especially with the high rates of poverty and unemployment in the country." And the head of the commission indicated that “the costs of collecting or deducting the amounts of payment of the commission for social protection benefits from the covered are not commensurate with the meager monthly salaries they receive, so we called on the Central Bank of Iraq to reduce these costs in proportion to the situation of the beneficiaries.”
