     Baghdad: Muhannad Abd al-Wahhab

The task of improving the reality of education in Iraq seems difficult at the present time in light of the high wages in private schools and the low levels of some of their students, while the workers in them are still without legal protection that guarantees them the right to work in a comfortable environment in addition to retirement and insurance benefits, just like their peers in the public sector.
The Parliamentary Education Committee indicated its endeavor to activate the Teacher Protection Law, discuss the private schools law regulating their work, and draw up a solid work plan that emerges from being internal decisions of the Ministry of Education, and turns it into a law that preserves all pension rights for teachers and teachers working in private schools.
Committee member Tohma Al-Lahibi said: “We are working on completing the laws discussed in the previous session, to organize the law on the work of private primary and secondary schools and those who work in them and oblige the state to activate the teacher protection law.”
Al-Luhaibi added in an interview that “the teacher protection law was approved in previous parliamentary sessions without being implemented in the work of private primary and secondary schools, and it is still just decisions that need to organize the work of schools,” noting that “the committee in the previous session met on the law of private primary schools.” And high school with specialists in the Ministry of Education to discuss the origin of the law to organize his work, and it was postponed to the current parliamentary session.”
